Rotaractors, Friends & Family
Once again, it is the season of joy and cheer, when we pause to give thanks and reflect on the year that is now rapidly coming to an end. Indeed we have much to be thankful for: life, love, health and work, to name a few. Let us never take these for granted, as they enrich us in more ways than we often realize.
We must also take time to reflect on our successes and failures during 2011. There are many accomplishments of which we can be proud. We improved our attendance and dues collection records and were successful in hosting all projects on which we embarked. It is indeed commendable that many of our projects for this half of the year have either been fully funded or majority funded by members and visitors of the club. Of course, we can all feel a sense of achievement with the relationships formed with the District Board, other Rotaract clubs, our sponsoring Rotary club and the Interactors who some of us now mentor.
For the first time in at least six (6) years, we participated in an environmental project. This year on National Tree Planting day we partnered with the Interact Club of Kingston College and planted a yellow poui tree.
We can also share in the joy of knowing that we touched more lives in giving back to the community, through our increased support for education through our High School Poster Competition, Our Annual Inner-city Art Competition and care for the elderly through Our Golden Age Christmas clean up at Faydene Methodist Home.
Even as we consider these accomplishments, let us also focus on the areas which need strengthening. Let us strive with even greater urgency to build goodwill and better friendships and also our support for each other. It has certainly been a privilege to work together as a team, to fulfill our mandate to ‘Embrace Humanity, Inspire Hearts, Change Lives’
We are blessed to be able to share another Christmas! May we return after this festive season with renewed vigor, as we embrace the opportunities which lie ahead, and to play our part in improving the lives of the less fortunate in the communities we serve!
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
President Nicole
